  On a solo bicycle trip up the Coast I had the pleasure of stopping in the W.R. Kelly Butchers and purchasing a number of meat pies. As described, the beef pies were the best in Britain and I can attest that they were the best I have ever had. I was told that the beef is extraordinary as it comes from a cross with Belgian Blues and free ranged along the open North Sea pastures where the salt contributes to the grasses. I saw these cattle in my trip up I believe. I also found the service and general conversational chatter with the two butchers on staff to be a delight - very funny and nice guys. I also bought some additional meat pies and local lemon jams to take back to my friends in Newcastle. Berwick is lucky to have butchers and meat of this extremely high quality.
